Project at a Glance
Client: PNC Bank
Architect: Cecil Baker & Partners
Location: Philadelphia, PA
This project, designed by Cecil Baker & Partners Architects, involved renovations to a 2,600 square foot existing interior shell space. Exterior work included the construction of two new entrances and vestibules off of Market Street and the Convention Center Lobby, respectively. Interior renovations included new mechanical, sprinkler, electrical and security systems; installation of a new teller line with bullet-resistant glazing; reinforcement of the existing floor slab; and the restoration of the historic plaster ceiling including all new cornices and brackets. Upon the completion of the ceiling restoration, no mechanical or electrical devices could be secured from the ceiling except for sprinkler piping. However, through innovative procedures, coupled with strong dedication and determination, the W.H. Myers Construction Company, PNC Bank, and the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia were able to work together and complete the construction of the bank on time and under budget.
